We’ve had some very changeable weather up at the castle; bright sunshine, cold winds and the odd bit of hail. Fortunately the castle is well used to all weathers. We had a lovely sunny day for our Bluebell Walk on the 28th of April and our first meeting of the Ayrshire Young Archaeology Club was on that same day and it went extremely well. Our club is already all booked up, but we have lots of archaeological events planned this year. Dig Dundonald is running the 25th-26th May and we are looking for local volunteers and volunteer gardens (Dundonald only) to have 1m by 1m test pits dug in them (we promise to tidy up after ourselves). Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Later on in September we will have further digs around the castle following up on last years excavations, and again lots of volunteers will be welcomed. Also, this month we have a willow weaving workshop, a landscape painting workshop, yoga at the castle and our sold out movie night screening ‘Brave’ and ‘Outlaw King’. May is a great month to visit the castle and woods, the spring wildflowers are out and despite the odd cold day the weather is lovely. Don’t forget to take a photo of your dog at the castle to enter our Dog of the Month competition, this month’s winner was a lovely beagle called Alfie.
