Prepare To Be Spoiled

The Visitor Centre cafe is run by staff and volunteers, well known for their hospitality and recently awarded Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence for 2018.

Visitors can choose from cosy indoor seating or a pleasant outside terraced area, complete with a canopy, which makes it available come rain or shine, no passing traffic with  fumes just views of the castle.

Choose from delicious home-made soup, toasties, sandwiches and paninis quiches and salads;  all made to order. With a vast array of locally made scones or cakes, you’ll be spoiled for choice. You can be sure of the very best Italian coffee and a wide selection of speciality teas.  We cater for gluten free and vegetarian, please just ask what is available on the day.  For children we have a customised ‘Bear Box’ containing healthy options with a choice of drink and sandwich fillings.

All our food and drinks are available to take away, and we are working hard to ensure packaging is recycled and/or recyclable, please join us in our bid to care for the environment by bringing your own reusable takeaway cup.  Straws are paper, or biodegradable, we no longer  provide plastic ones.

 

 

 

Afternoon Tea

We are now offering ‘Afternoon Tea for 2’ on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This will be available by pre-booking only. Bookings can be made by popping in for a visit or by calling us on 01563 851489 to reserve a time slot at either 2pm or 3.30pm on a Saturday or Sunday. Local Groups

The Castle visitor centre  serves as a meeting place for many local groups;  local historians, writers, artists, dog walkers and runners, they all come to enjoy the Castle, the scenic Smugglers trail and Dundonald’s beautiful woods.  If your group is seeking a meeting place for daytime  or evening please get in touch.  We  arrange special packages for your group  from tours to talks, afternoon teas to Christmas lunches, all tailored made at reasonable prices. 

 

Gift Shop

We have a small range of branded items, Scottish themed souvenirs, quaichs, glasses and Kays of Scotland’s Ailsa Craig Stone gifts but e also supporting local authors Dane Love, Suzy Kellie, Lucy Lang, and  artists; ‘Silks by Lilas’, ‘Fiona Scott Art’ and ‘Erica Grace’.  We sell ‘Aroma Soaps by Wendy,’ ‘Claire’s Jewellery Designs’, and Local Honey foraged by bees on Dundonald Castle hill.
